Study of a Silicone Tri-Leaf Heart Valve

Scroll

Creative Fields: CAD, FEA Simulation

Completion Date: Winter 2022

Skills: SolidWorks Simulation Tool

Background: Ex vivo heart perfusion (EVHP) enables the preservation of a heart and keeps it beating during transport. An experimental setup containing a hydraulic circuit analogous to the left flow loop of the EVHP system has been developed. A computer-controlled pump with a tri-leaf exit valve is used to simulate the working condition of the heart. This valve performance has a direct impact on the flow field under investigation. The present study aims to investigate the performance of the silicone valve under back pressure.
